From a young age Bowen has been building and refining his design and programming skills. At 14 years old Bowen taught himself to program the ETC Congo for his first lighting design on Project Jericho: Shadowcast in the Clark State Performing Arts Center. Through high school Bowen began learning the ETC Express and ETC Eos console families designing multiple musicals and concerts. At the legal working age of 16 Bowen began designing and programing for the Springfield Art's Councils Summer Arts Festival as well as The Short North Stage and Abbey Theater.
